Certificate IV in Ageing Support
A senior Aged Care qualification enabling team-leader and coordination roles.
The Certificate IV in Ageing Support is a senior Aged Care qualification that builds on the foundation of a Cert III. It moves beyond direct personal care into areas like coordinating services, supporting people with complex needs, and providing leadership to a team of support workers. For many workers it is the step that opens up team-leader, senior support and care-coordination roles.
For workers, the Cert IV is a natural progression point. It signals readiness for more responsibility and is often tied to better pay and a clearer career path within an organisation. You can read more in the pay and progression guide.
For providers, a Cert IV qualification is valuable but separate from screening. Holding it does not change the screening requirement: workers still need either a police certificate issued in the last three years or an NDIS Worker Screening Check, which remain the only two accepted options. The qualification document is reviewed rather than verified against the training organisation, so it should be kept on record alongside the worker's current screening clearance.
This is general information, not compliance advice. Always confirm requirements with the relevant regulator, and remember that providers keep the legal responsibility to sight credentials and decide who can work.
We work hard to keep it accurate, but the rules change and we will not always get every detail right. If you think something here needs updating, email us at resources@koora.care. We would genuinely rather know, because we all do better when we help each other get it right.
