National Early Childhood Worker Register (NECWR)

The national register recording who works in education and care services, lodged in the ACECQA NQA IT System.

The National Early Childhood Worker Register, or NECWR, is a national record of who works in approved education and care services. As part of the 2026 child safety reforms, services record their workers in the register so there is a consistent national view of the early childhood workforce. Entries are lodged through ACECQA's NQA IT System rather than through individual state portals.

For educators, the register is something your service maintains on your behalf. You will still hold and present your Working with Children Check and your qualifications; the register simply records that you are working at a service. The Working with Children Check itself is still verified through the relevant state or territory portal, and police history is bundled into that check rather than recorded separately.

For providers, accurate register entries are a compliance obligation, so workforce records need to stay current as people start and leave. Koora helps services keep credential and screening records review-ready, which makes lodging and updating register entries far less of a scramble. See our guide to the register for the detail.

This is general information, not compliance advice. Always confirm requirements with the relevant regulator, and remember that providers keep the legal responsibility to sight credentials and decide who can work.

We work hard to keep it accurate, but the rules change and we will not always get every detail right. If you think something here needs updating, email us at resources@koora.care. We would genuinely rather know, because we all do better when we help each other get it right.
