How to apply: NDIS Worker Screening Check (ACT)
- Nominate at least one employer listed in the NDIS Worker Screening Database to endorse your NDIS application: a registered or unregistered NDIS provider, a self-managed participant, or yourself if you are self-employed with database access. If your employer is not listed, you cannot apply.
- Apply online through your ACT Digital Account for WWVP registration with NDIS clearance. It uses the same forms and process as any WWVP application.
- Have four identity documents, one with your photo, verified at an Access Canberra service centre within 30 days.
- Pay $163 for paid work. Volunteer-only registration is free.
- Allow about eight weeks or more: applications that include NDIS screening take longer than the average.
How to renew: NDIS Worker Screening Check (ACT)
- Watch for the reminder about three months before your WWVP registration expires. You renew the NDIS clearance with it, using the letter ID on the reminder.
- Lodge the renewal and have your employer verify your employment before the NDIS clearance expires. Otherwise you are ineligible for NDIS work until both are done.
- If you add an NDIS clearance to an existing registration instead, it expires with that registration, which can be less than five years away.
What employers must do
- Make sure people in risk-assessed roles hold an NDIS worker clearance, including labour hire workers, sole traders, volunteers, students on placement and key personnel such as CEOs and board members.
- Be listed as an employer in the NDIS Worker Screening Database so workers can nominate you, and verify their employment when asked.
- Check the card: 'NDIS ACTIVITIES - Yes' shows the NDIS clearance. A registration with restrictions cannot be used for NDIS activities that need a clearance.
- Identify your risk-assessed roles and keep a written record of them, updated within 20 business days when a role is added or reclassified.
- Link workers to your organisation in the NDIS Worker Screening Database when they start and unlink them when they leave. Linked employers are notified when a clearance is within 90 days of expiry.
What is specific to Australian Capital Territory
- One card covers both: an ACT WWVP registration card marked 'NDIS ACTIVITIES - Yes' carries the NDIS clearance.
- An unrestricted WWVP registration issued before 1 February 2021, or extended from three to five years by letter, counts as registration to work in NDIS activities.
- A card marked 'NDIS ACTIVITIES - No' does not stop someone working for an NDIS provider if the clearance is not mandatory, the role is not risk-assessed, or they hold a valid clearance from another state.
- Registered people must tell Access Canberra about new relevant charges or convictions within 10 days.
What Koora checks
Reviewed. Koora does not verify NDIS Worker Screening clearances against the NDIS Worker Screening Database today; source verification is on Koora's roadmap. The compliance engine checks the clearance against the requirements of each role, and Koora tracks its expiry date. A person reviews the evidence when a worker shares their Career Passport or a provider requests access, or across an organisation's own records where Crew is attached. Registered providers still verify and link their workers in the NDIS Commission portal themselves.
Your team reviews each credential in Koora, or Crew does it for you. The provider keeps the legal responsibility for who they engage.

This is general information, not compliance advice. Always confirm requirements with the relevant regulator, and remember that providers keep the legal responsibility to sight credentials and decide who can work.
We work hard to keep everything accurate, and our compliance engine keeps up with the rules as they change. Even so, we might get a detail slightly wrong or miss something. No one's perfect.
