Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards
The revised Aged Care standards in effect from 1 November 2025 under the new Aged Care Act.
The Strengthened Aged Care Quality Standards are the updated set of standards that providers must meet, in effect from 1 November 2025 alongside the new Aged Care Act. They replace the earlier standards and put a stronger focus on the rights of older people, governance, and the care workforce.
For providers, the standards shape what an audit looks at. Workforce sits under Standard 2, which expects providers to have a workforce that is sufficient, skilled, qualified and screened for the care they deliver. That means keeping current evidence that each worker has the right checks, qualifications and training, and being able to produce those records when the Commission assesses you.
For workers, the standards are the reason your employer asks for up-to-date screening, qualifications and mandatory training. Keeping your records current makes you easier to deploy and keeps your employer audit ready.
Koora helps providers keep workforce evidence in one place through the Career Passport, so the records behind Standard 2 are ready when an assessment happens.
This is general information, not compliance advice. Always confirm requirements with the relevant regulator, and remember that providers keep the legal responsibility to sight credentials and decide who can work.
We work hard to keep it accurate, but the rules change and we will not always get every detail right. If you think something here needs updating, email us at resources@koora.care. We would genuinely rather know, because we all do better when we help each other get it right.
