How to apply: NDIS Worker Screening Check (TAS)
- Make sure you have an NDIS employer: you cannot request the NDIS check without one. You need their details, such as ABN, trading name or NDIS employer ID.
- Apply online for an RWVP in either class, Employment/Volunteer or Volunteer, and request the NDIS Worker Screening Check in the same application. If you already hold an RWVP, choose 'amend registration' in MyRWVP to add it.
- Visit a Service Tasmania centre with the identity documents you selected, have your photo taken, and pay if you did not pay online. Incomplete applications expire 21 days from the date on your receipt.
- The application goes to the NDIS Worker Screening Database, which asks your employer to verify your employment. It proceeds only once they do.
How to renew: NDIS Worker Screening Check (TAS)
- Watch for the reminders by email and/or text before your RWVP expires.
- Renew in MyRWVP. You can verify your identity in the myServiceTas app if you paid online and your documents match the name on your card; otherwise visit Service Tasmania.
- Allow around six weeks. Renewing early does not shorten your current registration.
- If your registration expires you cannot work in a regulated activity until the renewal is approved. You have 30 days after expiry to lodge it; after that you start a new application.
What employers must do
- Verify the worker's employment when the NDIS Worker Screening Database sends the request. Their application does not proceed otherwise.
- Make sure workers in risk-assessed roles at a registered NDIS provider hold the check, including volunteers, work experience students and key personnel such as CEOs.
- Make sure paid workers hold the Employment/Volunteer class: penalties apply if a paid worker holds only a Volunteer registration.
- Link workers to your organisation in the NDIS Worker Screening Database when they start and unlink them when they leave. Linked employers are notified when a clearance is within 90 days of expiry.
- Keep a written record of each worker in a risk-assessed role, including the clearance number and expiry date. The record is kept for seven years.
What is specific to Tasmania

- An NDIS worker doing child-related work in Tasmania may also need a child-related RWVP.
- Volunteer registration is free under fee relief that runs for two years from 1 January 2026.
What Koora checks
Reviewed. Koora does not verify NDIS Worker Screening clearances against the NDIS Worker Screening Database today; source verification is on Koora's roadmap. The compliance engine checks the clearance against the requirements of each role, and Koora tracks its expiry date. A person reviews the evidence when a worker shares their Career Passport or a provider requests access, or across an organisation's own records where Crew is attached. Registered providers still verify and link their workers in the NDIS Commission portal themselves.
Your team reviews each credential in Koora, or Crew does it for you. The provider keeps the legal responsibility for who they engage.

This is general information, not compliance advice. Always confirm requirements with the relevant regulator, and remember that providers keep the legal responsibility to sight credentials and decide who can work.
We work hard to keep everything accurate, and our compliance engine keeps up with the rules as they change. Even so, we might get a detail slightly wrong or miss something. No one's perfect.
